Carol Spilman purchased Kessels Road Super Cycles in 1994. The cyclery store had been in business at this location for approximately 6 years and had a strong reputation as a discount bicycle specialist. Carol set about modernising the business with a new fitout and computerisation and brands were strengthened to carry some of the leading names including Giant, Avanti, Raleigh and Specialized.

With the focus shifting to customer service, Kessels Rd Cycles went from strength to strength. A second store was opened in partnership with Rod Nicholas - the former Giant Bicycles Queensland Account Manager and founder of Brisbane Bicycles and Hire in the city. The location for the new store was found on Wynnum Road Morningside - Kessels Rd Super Cycles was renamed - and Riders Cyclery was born.

Even then Riders Cyclery was Brisbane's largest bicycle retailer, with the widest range of bicycles and bicycle acessories, and in September 2000 the third Riders Cyclery store was opened on Kingsford Smith Dr, Hamilton, strengthening Riders Cyclery position in the Brisbane bicycle industry.

July 2003 saw the opening of out fourth store found in the heart of Southbank. Situated on Little Stanley Street, Southbank caters for all riders, while catering in particular for road bike enthusiasts. We also have rental bikes for those day trips in and around Southbank and the Botanical Gardens. Riders Cyclery is now at the forefront of Brisbane Bicycle Hire as well as providing unsurpassed retail expertise.
